Russia: Komi Republic to build new pulp mill

Construction of $876 million Udorsk Pulp Mill in Russian Komi Republic starts second half 2005, www.lesprom.ru informs. The mill with the planned capacity of 500 thousand tons (400 thousand tons of bleached softwood and 100 thousand tons of bleached hardwood grade pulp) is to be completed in 2.5–3 years. The project was developed by ZAO Gazprombum and Jaakko Poyry Consulting (Finland). The development costs of RUR 5.8 million (app. $200 thousand) were financed from local budget.
