Kotlass Pulp and Paper Mill, Russian Karelia (belonging to Ilim Pulp), will place an order with Metso Paper for the rebuild of its sulfite pulp line, factually intending to build a new one. The total value of the project is approximately Euro 25 million and the rebuilt line will start up in April 2008, www.bumprom.ru informs. The new 900 tons per day line will become a part of program aimed at boosting fluting production at Kotlass Mill.

One more project is step-by-step modernization of PM 1. Start up of the modernized PM 1 is slated for October 2008. The machine's capacity is due to rise 400 tons per day.

The project means not only production grow but environmental protection as well, as the mill is reducing sewage disposal by 2600 tons/yr., cuts down energy, water and wood consumption.
