The largest world paper producer International Paper continues with the modernization of Svetogorsk Pulp and Paper Mill. The mill plays significant role in IP's plan of transformation focusing at uncoated paper and packaging sectors.
Launched in 2004, the investment program includes a new line for PPC production, modernization of PM#4 (printing papers), a new automated line for office papers formatting and packaging. The mill has already reconstructed PM#1 adding to it a new coating line for liquid packaging board production.
According to Svetogorsk general director Sergey Pondar, the next stage is the construction of 200 000 tons/yr chemical-thermomechanical pulp line for paper and board production.
