Russia: New mill in Sverdlovsk region

Gennady Girev, director of Ural timber union, named the largest regional project of pulp and paper industry, www.lesprom.ru informs. It is a 500 thousand ton/yr pulp and paper mill in Tavda. It will work with hardwood, typical for modern Middle Ural. Older local enterprises were constructed for softwood processing but now it is gone, having been cut out. The project is ratified by a decree of the local authorities "On investment projects in forest industry for 2006–2008" covering the main development strategies for the years to come.
