Celulosas de Hernani, in Hernani- Guipuzcoa, Spain, has signed a contract with Toscotec for the supply of a Modulo 50 Tissue Machine. Celulosa de Hernani was the first tissue producer in Spain and started its activities in 1913.
The project consists in the dismantling and replacement of an existing tissue machine with a brand new Modulo 50 unit. The new tissue machine will have a production speed of 1200 m/min and a production output of 70 tonnes/day with a net trim width of 2750 mm. The erection of the new tissue machine will take place in summer 2007 with production start-up in August.
The Modulo 50 unit will be equipped with a single layer headbox, Crescent Former section, double nip press section (with a suction press roll followed by a blind driller press roll) and a Steel Yankee dryer with a diameter of 3200 mm operating at 10 bar. The scope of supply includes also the upgrading of the existing auxiliary equipment such as vacuum plant, approach flow system and sectional drive system.
When this rebuild is completed, Celulosas de Hernani, an independent qualified supplier for the tissue converting industry, says it will be the largest producer of wastepaper-based jumbo reels in Spain.
The Modulo 50 is part of a family of modular tissue machines including also the smaller Modulo 30 designed to minimize the required foundation works required for a conventional tissue machine. These units proved to be ideal for all projects where a minimum impact on the building is a key factor for the success of the project.
The Steel Yankee Dryer is a distinctive product of Toscotec with 16 cylinders sold, 13 of which are already successfully started-up and operating. Celulosas de Hernani’s will be the first one of this kind to be installed in Spain. The most important benefit of this technology is the higher drying capacity of these Yankees compared with cast iron dryers with the same diameter, according to Toscotec.
