Suparma has started trial runs on a second-hand tissue paper machine at its Surabaya mill on the Indonesian island of Java, according to Polish machine supplier PMP.
The 15,000 ton/yr PM8 trims at 2,56 m and runs at up to 800 m/min making jumbo rolls of up to 2 m diameter. It raises Suparma’s tissue capacity to about 100 tons/day of toilet tissue (Plenty brand) and towel (See-U brand). Trial runs started in May and commercial production is expected shortly. Poland's PMP supplied a new reel and tail threading and sheet stabilization systems. The project cost totals $5 million.
The Surabaya mill houses six other machines with a total capacity of 150,000 tonnes/yr of cartonboard, newsprint, printing/writing, tissue and kraft papers.
