Russia: Ilim Pulp announces annual results
Enterprises belonging to Ilim Pulp churned out 2.52 million tons of pulp and paper products in 2005, which constituted an upturn of 4.5% compared with the year before, the company’s press-service informs. The production of market pulp increased 3.6% to 1.47 million tons, cardboard production grew 4.1% to 707.3 thousand tons, paper production rose 17.4% to 280.9 thousand tons. Pulping output totaled 2.4 million tons (+3.5%).

Russia: Georgia-Pacific Nordic to build new plant
American Georgia-Pacific Nordic plans to construct a 300 million euro tissue converting plant in Tver region, www.lesprom.ru informs with reference to sources in the local administration. On January 31, Dmytry Zelenin, the governor of Tver region, and Raimo Kakko, vice-president Georgia-Pacific Nordic, signed a letter of intention fixing general positions of the project.
