Russia: Ust-Ilim Timber Complex boosts production
Ust-Ilim Timber Complex belonging to Ilim Pulp Corp. has started the second modernization stage, which is to end up with production increase of the bleached market pulp up to 700 thousand tons a year.
The project is a part of the long-term program for solving production, quality and ecology issues taking into account recommendations of Jaakko-Poyry consulting company.

Russia: Mondi Business Paper ahead of plan
In August Mondi Business Paper Syktyvkar manufactured 68.7 thousand tons of paper and cardboard products (4% more than planned and 16% more than in August 2004), the company’s press-service informs. The mill cooked 49.8 thousand tons of pulp (2% more than planned and 4% more than in August 2004).

Russia: Arkhangelsk Mill reports results
In August, Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill cooked 70.8 thousand tons of pulp, which constituted a slight upturn of 0.8% compared the approved plan, the mill’s press-service informs. The mill churned out 7 thousand tons of paper (+1.4), 40 thousand tons of containerboard (+0.4%), 11.7 million sq.m. of corrugated products (+2.7%), 725.7 thousand sq.m. of fiberboard (+0.8%), 33.7 million of 12-page copybooks (+4.9%).

Russia: Volga increases net profit
During the first six months 2005, one of the largest Russian newspaper producers Volga Pulp and Paper Mill (Nizhni Novgorod region) churned out products for RUR 3.258 billion (app. $111 million), which constituted an increase of 12% compared with the same period a year ago. Net profit amounted to RUR 502 million (app. $17 million) compared with dead loss of RUR 65 million (app. $2.17 million) in 2004.
